The History of glass tableware dates back to ancient civilizations, where glass was initially used for decorative purposes. Over the centuries, glassmaking techniques expanded, allowing artisans to create more functional items, including plates, bowls, and cups. Renaissance period saw a surge in the popularity of glass tableware, particularly in Venice, known for its exquisite craftsmanship. Today, glass tableware remains a staple in homes around the world, valued for its elegance and versatility. Anchor Bend Glassworks is proud to carry on this tradition of design and function.

Hand blown glass is typically made from a mixture of silica sand, soda ash, and limestone, which form the base of the glass. Additional materials, such as metal oxides, are incorporated to create various colors and effects. The mixture is heated to high temperatures in a furnace until it melts, allowing skilled artisans to shape blow the glass into unique forms. The result is a stunning array of handcrafted glass pieces, each with its own character and charm.
